Self – Directed Support
What is this?
Self Directed Support Scotland Act 2013 was introduced in 2014 as the Scottish Government believes everyone should be in control of their life. If you currently receive a care package you are entitled to Self Directed Support and an assessment for this. There are 4 options you can choose from which are listed below you can chose who provides care to you or your loved one. There is more information available on this through your local authority.
- Direct Payment (a cash payment);
- Funding allocated to a provider of your choice (sometimes called an individual service fund, where the council holds the budget but the person is in charge of how it is spent);
- The council can arrange a service for you; or
- You can choose a mix of these options for different types of support.
