Hi, I’m Fiona.
I am the Service Manager at ION Enablement Centre, I have worked in the care sector for a number of years. I started my career off as a carer, I then joined The Haining as activities co-ordinator before moving onto my current role at ION. I have always had a passion for care and sourcing appropriate and meaningful activities.
At the Enablement Centre our aim is to enable our service users to retain/ improve and maintain the skills they have and prevent hospital admission or re-admission. We do this through various activities which include,
Life Skills – Preparing and cooking meals & arts and crafts.
Mobility – Our motto at the Enablement Centre is “Use It or Lose IT!”. Our service users enjoy participating in a number of physical activities/exercises daily. These activities help us improve movement range, strength and balance.
Cognitive – Memory cards & name that tune.
Nutrition – Food tasting sessions & Guess the Flavour.
My job is rewarding in many ways, particularly when I can see the improvement in service users and how our service has a positive effect on not only themselves but their families.
